BOOK: Exploring Possibilities

In my study – before you. 2002

Another possible entry in my work in progress:  Exploring Possibilities . Notes written sitting by the lake on ECU’s campus after meeting a lady from South Africa.  My man was born in South Africa but grew up in Central Africa where we originally fell in love.  28 years later he was living in Ireland and I was in Oz when we met again, on-line.

Lakeside on Campus -Saturday 6th April 2002

I’m sitting here, next to the lake listening to the Magpie’s talk, the Wood Ducks peep and the fountains filter their water.

Three tourists walked by and were obviously looking for something. So I said, “The kangaroos are over there (pointing) behind Cowan House, lying around in the shade.”

Well, this lovely lady replied.  “Oh thank you!” in a broad South African accent.  Small world hey?  She and her husband Gordon have “…just arrived this morning at 5am from Jo’berg for 5 days.  He and Peter have been friends since grade 5 and we’re going out to dinner tonight.”

She can’t believe how clean it all is…

Anyway, they’re having a good look at our ‘lawn mowers’, who aren’t actually doing much.  Just lying back, torsos twisted, scratching their bellies. Totally unconcerned, even though they are wild and these tourists are just a couple of yards from them.

I’m obviously early for the poetry workshop. My watch has stopped again – it needs a service (another thing on my long list!).

I wonder what we’ll tackle this afternoon.  I have no idea of today’s subject – haven’t been for while – too distracted by you!!!!

Hope you’re having a lovely day – I’m being good and giving you space (in the nicest possible way).  I hope it’s helping.

This is the first entry into my new notebook – the red (for passion) one with a teddy bear playing guitar on the front!

I’ve also got my two passports with me and I though I’d scan the pictures for you – just for a laugh. One was taken when I was 15 (British passport) and the other when I was 40 for the Bali trip. (Haven’t done it yet though.)

Hmmmmmmmm – poetry – erotic poetry – I wonder if I can do it?  First drafts only…

I love the Eric Bibb version best. Thanks for reminding me of all those songs I learnt at convent school. Wow – another amazing blast from the past. Thanks, Thom.

Charlize Theron (“Bombshell”) said she relates to Megyn Kelly because they’ve both been called bitches. Theron discussed her similarities with Kelly and building a career on portraying unlikable women during a conversation with Adam Driver (“Marriage Story”) for “Variety Studio: Actors on Actors.” Driver initiated the interview asking whether Theron considered the likability factor in…

POEM: 28 years later…

020806FirstFlowersAFPhotos (6)

Before You – 2002 – in my study.

This poem is from another chapbook-in-progress entitled ‘Exploring Possibilities’ full of pieces written when My Man reappeared and offered a different future while I weighed the risk, knowing my recent past with a different man.

28 years later…

In the afternoon of my life,

settled,

content and comfortable

in my alone-ness

you

question me!

You destroy

my strong defences,

obliterate

my sense and reason

to let you in!

For my heart,

bow wave of confusion,

tense terror times

of doubt and fear

~ unknown ~

risk everything,

my ordered now!

The colours of my life

changing to a

different hue…

You terrify me!

Wanting – needing

arms that enclose

a broken heart…

Make it whole again!

POEM: Re-Union

180214LoveCover 001

A poem from my chapbook ‘Love’.

ReUnion

stepping softly

you trod the path

to my front door

never rang the bell

played favourite songs

over and over until

senses on overload

surrounded by romance

you kissed me quick

heart pumped electric

singing over barriers

erected years ago

against pain and hurt

welcomed as veins

formed highways

joined the chorus

zinging with heat

barely contained

thrumming melody

words all ready

rhymed with roses

thorns ignored

fresh and bloody

us young again
