The novelist Alexander McCall Smith and the actress Helena Bonham Carter have both offered to cheer up lockdown-stricken readers of The Sunday Times.

McCall Smith has written a poem, below, in honour of health workers who are risking their lives to help the sick.

The Scottish author has two daughters who are doctors working on the coronavirus front line. “Now we have come to realise that all about us there are heroes,” he said.  READ THE FULL ARTICLE AND HEAR HIS POEM
