I’ve been nominated for the Awesome blogger award by The Fluff Is Raging.  Thank you Niall McArdle.  Though not sure why…

http://www.westernaustralia-travellersguide.com/perth-australia-beach.html

Perhaps because I live 10 mins North of Hillarys Boat Harbour.

http://www.westernaustralia.com/au/Things_to_See_and_Do/Sun_Surf_and_Sea_Life/Pages/Beaches.aspx

Although I don’t like sand or surfing but spend hours in coffee shops gazing over the ocean at Mullaloo

I suspect, it’s because (like Niall) film and particularly Australian Films like The Sapphires  The Dressmaker  or  Red Dog are a passion of mine.

The Rules:

#1. Copy and paste the image with the rules.

#2. Share one thing that you thing that makes you truly awesome.

#3. Nominate other bloggers for the award.

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, I’ve been making things for my gorgeous new-born grandson Bodhi ~ my clever daughter Jessica McCallum‘s latest creation.

However, today my muse smiled as I was reading updates on Facebook and 2 photos inspired me.

A friend in Cork, Patrick Cotter posted a colourful picture of  his socks; “These single socks seem to think I have nothing better to do than run a dating agency for them.” and I couldn’t help myself:

Dating

A colourful

individual;

a well-heeled

single, looking

for a match,

with similar need.

And another artistic friend on Facebook, Aaron Pocock posted a photo of “2-3 watercolours from the last couple of days” of these beautiful Australian birds :

Malurus splendens -Yangebup, Western Australia, Australia -male-8.jpg

Splendid Blue

In breeding plumage

his world knows no guns,

only the garden sprays

killing his insect food.

Still, he flits and flirts,

happy in his life work.

Seeking shades of brown

and grey among the twigs.

There, a most superb mate

waits, quietly seed-feeding

to proliferate their kind.

A species not in danger – yet.

Today’s interesting stuff from around my on-line world:

From his publisher: Alexander McCall Smith on the Books that Shaped My Life:

From the New Yorker: Barbara Pym and the new spinster:

From Emirates Airline:  New A380: Emirates shows livery as it takes aim at the fight against poaching.

And finally, a promotion for Game Rangers International and their Facebook Page, who do an amazing job training the rangers who risk their lives everyday, in many ways!

So I’m sharing one of my clever brother’s excellent short observations of nature – and some of his very chilled out music on Soundcloud.

Enjoy.
