Saw this painting on Facebook by Linda Ibbotson and was inspired.

Ebb and Flow

Emotion clash

Blood pumps

Heart bursts

Power jars

Merging still

Pulled apart

Ebb and flow

Jealousy bite

Clash churns

Fusion of fear

Feeling cold

Losing faith

Sunset heat

Passions pale

Discard love

Piercing pain

Clutch and stab

Empty hands

For those who didn’t go to Jessica McCallum’s linked pages in yesterday’s post, I thought I would share the other poem written to her second painting in the set.

Image---kept-finished

KEPT

Here I am, waiting for your touch,

pulling down the sun – shouting

screaming to be heard above

white noise; direct lines dedicated,

servers on your world wide web.

I feel the electric zings tingling

finger tips to toes, turn my cheek

expecting the slap as you run away…

Here I am – back, bigger (larger C drive) and hopefully better!

Still testing, but I’m sitting at my keyboard, and feeling good!

Thanks to all those who checked in while I was ‘away’ or wished me luck.

I’ve made loads of notes for postings to make up for the last 11 days…

Meantime another poem written to my daughter’s art.

Image---keep-finished

KEEP

It takes all my strength to pull this life to me,

To claw and tear my way from one day to another

Not counting, just tearing one more here in the glow

of the sun suffocated by rays of light and warmth

holding tight to ties that bind. I want to keep

these precious feelings and bask in your love forever

How House Coffee and Wildflowers Go Together.

I’m a new fan of John’s.  This blog post is written with such attention to detail I feel as if I am walking through Amazing Grace Bakery, tasting the coffee and sketching what I see…

Womankind

My sincere apologies:  I’ve again been distracted by work but wanted to share my new obsession – magazine-wise:  ‘Womankind’.

For all my followers who are amazing photographers – there’s an award closing on the 30th November 2014.

140915WomanKindMag1web

Fabulously inspiring pages both visually stunning and with considered, careful, intriguing words, so perfectly placed on each page – I’m hooked.

You will be too – it’s new and augers well for a future filled with ‘Womankind’.

Three of five poems written to the art of the disabled and sold with the works during the Creative Connections Exhibition 2007.

Circles

In this match of life
others call a game
my hands flutter to
find the finger holes

I fix my gaze on pins
measuring the lane
grip hard and swing
bowling ball aimed

been knocked down
but stubborn as a pin
I stand again, ready
for the next bowler.

Frances Macaulay Forde © 2007

Country

take my hand
walk with me
through family

follow straight
railway lines
in the sunshine

leave hand prints
in caves sprayed
white sand hills

mountains of
red clay heart
brown beauty

take my hand
walk with me
through country

Frances Macaulay Forde © 2007

Wild Orchid

With a naturists eye
infinite care, such
considered placement.
A fern frond here.
A gum leaf there.

Pink & yellow dried
petals, delicate veins
like a bridal veil,
placed in the centre
of your wedding cake.

An orchid appears
exotic and rare,
like me.

Your contempt for my feelings

broke something inside – no, not

my heart, it was my soul…  You

judged me harshly, unworthy –

beneath your regard. In total

disgrace, I slunk away to heal.

I needed to breathe deeply,

to absorb the pain, swallow

before wearing silk again…

This poem was a finalist in the “Inner City Life” Literary Competition 2004, initiated and run by Irina Dunn as Director of the NSW  Writers Centre.

When my hibiscus was in full flower, I picked a few and decided to have a go painting them…  I thought it went well with the poem and published the postcard in 2012.

Sorry, I’ve been distracted again with another DOT drawing challenge and been introduced to a wonderful  illustrator and his blog.

I love the idea of his book “Julia’s House for Lost Creatures” and the look:  Ben’s style appears simple but isn’t – it’s clean, concise but clear.

If I don’t win a copy, I’ll be buying one – it’s on my wish list for my two little granddaughters who adore any sort of ‘creature’ and would love to fill their house with them!

I started doing poetry postcards when I ran Poets Corner @ Pages Cafe as a giveaway on each table.  I figured if people were kind enough to sit and listen, they deserved a keepsake.

I’m still in the habit and find them useful as giveaways at readings and book events.   I get them printed – often for free, when VISTA PRINT  do ‘specials’.

This one has the first (the very first) oil painting I ever did, on it.  My dad gave me a set of oils for my 12th birthday and a small tester board.

I haven’t done more than a handful since but this first attempt at oils, was always my favorite.

The poem was written for my returned love; every time he turns to carry on with his everyday… I miss him this much.
