Our Hibiscus is flowering again – don’t know how many times a year it does, but it does with no attention from me.  Except to snip some of her beautiful blooms so I can paint them…

Jewel Drool…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  14Diamonds.pro

Do you spend hours trawling through other people’s Pinterest boards?  I’m absolutely hooked!

I’ve now made specific boards to house what I find – my own stash and it’s like jewel porn.

14HarryWinston  14bonhams.com1  14hautelook.com1

I found myself literally spending hours today, peaking at the boards of so many like-minded others and grabbing their finds to add to mine, so I can drool over them later.  I got absolutely nothing done, except a Cinquain.

Legally ‘stealing’ magnificent tiaras and priceless gems made me so happy and very relaxed – perhaps it should be a recommended therapy.

Jewel

Like a

diamond

I don’t shine until

I’m pulled into the light.

Value?

Raincheck Exhibition Jessica McCallum© 2010

Raindrops

Like tears,

rain hits my umbrella.

Bouncing, bursting

droplets scattering,

spreading my pain.

Shimmering images.

Reflections of you.

Love like rain,

showers me

with tears.

© Daily Mail Article 2014

I’m drooling over this Daily Mail article about Elizabeth Taylor‘s jewels.  Not just the perfectly matched natural stones (I don’t often see totally natural, they’re usually enhanced or created in my world) but also the artistry of the settings.

“Revealed in all its glittering glory: Elizabeth Taylor’s £100m collection of gems, gowns and art goes on display at Christie’s” according to the Daily Mail article today.

I shouldn’t be envious. It’s her beauty (even in her later years) and how she effortlessly engendered love. So much love, her suitors wanted to – not just adore her but adorn her, with precious gems. I’d LOVE to see the exhibition…

Oh, I know it’s decadent, frivolous – selfish to harbor materials which, selling just one could earn enough to feed a small country, but looking at pretty, shiny things makes me so happy!

They say a man who buys jewelry is rare… I have one and a great love.  I know which I value more.

Lesson No 65

See, diamonds are hard

as everyone knows,

a girl must have metal

for this century’s woes.

Getting her rocks off

whether blond, red or brunette

no faking, no waiting – Helen,

woman hasn’t peaked yet.

While gentlemen play with image

cream blondes, brunettes achieve.

Red wears stainless steel bands

inscribed with ‘We must believe!’

Don’t strive for tabloid wants

look past the surface bling,

there’s more to a woman

tho’ the sparkle is tempting…

Is this the end of Faith?

(11.11 am   7th March 2003)

amongst the threats

(no regrets)

Mesopotamia’s verdant fields

about to be trodden by US heels…

a break from balletic visuals

three second take-off’s

while Kitty Hawk

danced on the waves

below

‘Adam Faith has died

at the age of 62’

after stage performance

a heart attack

such a trooper

parading…

performing…

Lest we forget

our freedom hard won,

young lads marched bravely.

We owe them so much;

minute of silence

– indestructibility!

It’s become somewhat of a tradition to put together a calendar of family photos and give a copy to my son, daughter and ex-mother-in-law as a gift for Christmas.

So, most of today has been taken up by sorting family photos (and getting distracted) from 2014, to fill pages of our calender for 2015.  I have so many photos and my grandchildren photograph so well, it’s difficult to choose just one or two…or sometimes three for each page.

Our family calender is private and only for us but now I’ve got the hang of it, and as Lulu makes it so easy, I’ve put together another one ‘Flowers for Chris’.  My brother Chris gave me a gorgeous bunch of flowers which I photographed – hence the name.  It’s available now for anyone to buy.  Next project is a calendar of poems…

I did, however, do my usual and order some photo mugs from VistaPrint because they had a special offer of 4 x $20 which is very cheap and as I responded today, there was also a ‘no postage’ deal.  As I finished the order I was then offered another free mug if I bought it within 10 minutes, so I ordered that as well!  The result was 5 x 5 photo wrapped mugs for $20 landed in Oz .  Score!

A Rose

Made of perfect petals,

Each one molded softly.

From a bud exquisite,

It blooms to velvet beauty.

Softly colored from peace white,

To reds, apricots and golds…

Only a few of the many shades

Found in the lovely folds

Of one, more than just an earthly flower

But surely a gift from heavenly bowers.

A gift of love, of peace that grows

Within the depths of beauty ~ a rose.

People think I’m an extrovert because it’s hard to get me out of my ‘bat cave’.

According to the latest TED Talk by Susan Cain , the world needs introverts but works hard to turn us all into extroverts.

I’ve added her book “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking” to my wish list.

May I recommend you spend just 19 minutes listening to this lady…

Speak Softly

I think I’m an ‘ambivert’ because solutions matter

but the spotlight is necessary to share my revelations.

Take me back to a Culture of Characters, not Personality

and I will fit in again, feel like I can take time to myself,

create in silence and only, when I’m ready, reveal all.

A delicious dance

In my kitchen

I contemplate a new mix,

a special combination

with heightened flavours.

The perfected recipe.

At last, a chance

to bite into real love!

The thrill of discovery

I’ve tried unsuccessfully

to master, for years.

Many times before,

I tried blending,

picking ingredients

so carefully…

impatiently

stirring the pot.

But I wrongly used

wooden utensils –

failed to find

the perfect dish,

until you added

that extra dash.

That mysterious tang

which previously

eluded my search –

the ultimate formula.

Tempting my taste buds,

leaving them bereft

of that special essence;

everlasting love.

You are the recipe

and lust the icing

on my now perfected

carrot cake of life.
