by Ryan Lanz Should you include a prologue in your novel? I have known writer friends who have debated this for years. Some love them, some hate them, but in this post I’ll detail what I think of them. There are many different schools of thought when it comes to prologues, and the […]

Sunny
Yesterday my life was filled with rain
Sunny
You smiled at me and really eased the pain
Now the dark days are gone, and the bright days are here
My sunny one shines so sincere
Sunny one so true, I love you
Sunny
Thank you for the sunshine bouquet
Sunny
Thank you for the love you brought my way
You gave to me your all and all
And now I feel ten feet tall
Sunny one so true, I love you
Sunny
Thank you for the truth you let me see
Sunny
Thank you for the facts from A to Z
My life was torn like wind-blown sand
And a rock was formed when you held my hand (oh, Sunny)
Sunny one so true, I love you.
Sunny
Thank you for the smile upon your face
Hmm, Sunny
Thank you, thank you for the gleam that shows its grace

The art of flight is one of disturbance, […]
Fiction is important to me. I get a great deal of pleasure from visiting the people and places created by the imagination and hard work of authors around the world. I read 150ish books a year and I buy twice as many as I read, which is why my TBR pile stand at more than […]
Subdued in my skin and bones, empty of poetry, tired of writing, living a void, avoiding lexically appealing expression, longing to die in the arms of a softly worded phrase, grabbing at air, denying a stare at my soulless soul, a cry for help from an immeasurable hole.
Art, is very often the spark but this particular piece was specifically written while gazing at the 700mm x 700mm artwork, ‘Mute’ .
The ‘JM Exhibition’ was the first (very successful) exhibition of art by my daughter Jessica McCallum held at His Majesty’s Theatre in 2009, on which we collaborated. All but one painting sold on the night.
We have since collaborated on two more very successful exhibitions here in Perth, WA.
Standing on the sand, I watched the boats afloat I thought to myself; I must look right cinematic, brilliant, deep, mature all eyes were on me, because I stood out how they must love me… As those ships drifted by, I’d be thoughtful roll my eyes, look to the ground with all the girls watching […]
