Perhaps not worth the $18.

In the mood…

When we approached the beautiful Art Deco Regal Theatre building in Subiaco yesterday, we didn’t realize we were going to watch a Broadway-style show whose tours have lasted 25 years!

Nor did we expect the emotional ending where a tribute was paid to all the branches of the armed forces. Audience members were encouraged to stand up to show their current or veteran service ~ although only a few did.

I wish they’d played ‘Don’t Fence Me In’ because it was a favourite of Mum and Dad’s, as well as ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ while thoroughly enjoying every standard they did present.

The audible, collective gasp as the first words of ‘Danny Boy’ were heard, brought tears to many eyes.

Wonderful 1940’s outfits, voices, music and emotion.  Like a huge thank you to all those brave souls~ lest we forget.

The final image of all those Zimmer Frames, numbered and lined up at the door, will never leave me.

There Is You

Yes, me too.

On days when there is nothing,
There is you
And that is the best thing about love.
Constant, unchanging,
With still so much left
To which we can look forward.
Grateful and hopeful,
I spend my days in love.

The first feature trailer has dropped for Red Dog True Blue, following a teaser trailer a few months back.

The 1960’s set followup to Kriv Stenders’ 2011 Red Dog, stars Levi Miller, Jason Isaacs, Bryan Brown and the very talented Hanna Mangan Lawrence who we aren’t seeing enough of in movies right now.

Red Dog True Blue explores the early events leading up to Red Dog’s discovery on the road to Dampier, and his ultimate rise from ordinary dog to Australian legend.

Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Red Dog True Blue is in cinemas Boxing Day.

Production begins today in Western Australia on the feature film Three Summers, the new ensemble romantic comedy written and directed by Ben Elton.

The first Australian feature film from the internationally renowned writer, director and comedian, Three Summers is a spirited take on the annual festival goers at a regional music festival over three consecutive years. Embracing the diversity of this typically Australian community as it gathers together in a music tent, the film fuses romance and music with Elton’s trademark wit and satirical edge.

Actor Robert Sheehan (Misfits, Red Riding Trilogy) is confirmed to star alongside Rebecca Breeds (TV’s Pretty Little LiarsHome and Away); they join a diverse Australian cast of some of the country’s most talented and beloved screen performers including John Waters (TV’s Offspring), Magda Szubanski (Happy Feet, Babe) and Michael Caton (Last Cab to Darwin, The…

A girl after my own heart…

Lynda Bullerwell poetry's avatarforget-me-not

I started at the end of this poem
and I’m working my way up
but, isn’t that how it goes
for lovers of language,

for dreamers like us?

I cannot stand being in the middle
sitting on the fence like a raven
waiting, waiting
for someone to make the next move.
There is no resentment in this heart,
just a lack of understanding,
a need for reasoning
because that’s just how my mind works,

and then there is you.
You come along with kind words
and contentment
and shoo away any angst
with a wand; blessings of peace
for the sentimental to savor.
My shoulders fall like wings
and I cannot even remember
what all the to-do was about
anymore.

Then, here we go,

Sway and hum, catch a firefly
on our way to the moon,
some nights, we shimmer,
others, shiver, out in the cold,

but always with a…
